How to Use Your Predicted NBME Score
Every predicted score carries an estimated margin of ±5–10 points. Don't schedule at the exact pass line — aim for your target score minus 10 pts.
UWSA 1 overpredicts by ~10.5 pts on average; UWSA 2 by ~6.9 pts (Seal et al. 2020, n=360–369). Subtract the appropriate buffer before deciding to schedule.
UWSA 1 vs UWSA 2 accuracy →One score is a signal. Two consistent scores from different forms are a verdict. Always confirm with a second form before scheduling.
Passing thresholds are 196 (Step 1) and 218 (Step 2 CK). Community safe zones are 210+ and 230+ — build in a buffer before scheduling.
